Examination of the perceived and real environmental and health consciousness of students attending the University of Debrecen

Abstract Increasing food demand poses a challenge for the economy and places burden on environment. In agricultural production, each product chain stage shows scarce resources negative environmental impacts are becoming increasingly significant. Food consumption has significant impact environment human health. Sustainable is characterised by health consciousness. This study focuses relationship between perceived real consciousness – more specifically concerning consumption. Following concise overview of conceptual background, definitions conscious consumption, consumer environmentally behaviour explained based available literature. The primary research draws conclusions from results 500-person questionnaire survey among students attending University Debrecen regarding It was concluded that (10.0%) less characteristic than (18.2%); significant; role price in determining purchases pronounced those claiming to be self-conscious consumers who neither conscious, nor conscious.
